COVERAGE: The Diocese covers 4,608sq Km of which 2% is open water and wetlands. The area experiences a bio-modal pattern of rainy seasons, which normally occur in March - May and Mid August - October.
Notwithstanding rainy seasons, the area is affected by long dry spells with temperatures ranging between 17°C – 30°C.
North Ankole Diocese is located (UTM, 0259999; 9976866) in the South Western cattle corridor of Uganda. It is bordered by Ibanda and Kamwenge in the North West, Mbarara Diocese in the West, Isingiro Diocese in the south, Rakai Diocese in the South-East, Lyantonde Diocese in the East, Kyenjojo and Sembabule Dioceses in the North and North East, respectively.
The Diocese is one of the biggest landowners in the country with over 12sq miles of arable land.
Activities on this land include but not limited to; cattle farms, Ranch, forests, subsistence farming, among others.

TOURISM: The Diocese is richly endowed with tourism potentials. Lake Mburo National Park is located in the Diocese. The famous ancient Mugore Rocks which are associated with the chwezi and the Ankole Long horned cattle are among the rich tourist attractions.
In addition, Lake Mburo National Park is renowned for the Zebra, Uganda Kob and the famous Eland.

General environment: The Diocese is one of the water stressed regions in the country which makes crop husbandry a more complicated activity. Nonetheless, crop growing is being carried out particularly for food security. Bananas, beans, cassava and maize are predominant crops which are the staple food staff.

Education: The cost of higher education and primary education has greatly increased, this is caused mainly by the rapid population growth. The Church schools can no longer hold the ever increasing number of children. The private schools charge high school fees. On average, there are three children per home

Emmanuel Cathedral Rushere

Emmanuel Cathedral Rushere is an Anglican  christian discipleship Church with a goal to see the gospel of the Kingdom of God spread to the entire world. This Church was founded by the North Ankole Diocese of the Protestant Anglican church of Uganda .  We believe that there are many deep and wonderful truths hidden in the bible which God’s children need to know.

The Diocese of North Ankole is located on Rushere hill, Kiruhura Diocese, Western Uganda. The Diocese shares the same geographical boundaries with Kiruhura and Kazo Dioceses respectively. The Diocese covers 4,608sq Km of which 2% is open water and wetlands. The area experience a bio-modal pattern rainy seasons, which normally occur in March – May and Mid August – October. Notwithstanding rainy seasons, the area is affected by long dry spells with temperatures ranging between 17°C – 30°C.

The Diocese is one of the biggest land owner in the country with over 12sq miles of arable land. Activities on this land include but not limited to; cattle farms, Ranch, forests, subsistence farming, among others. And has 57 administrative units/parishes. In the education sector, the Diocese owns over 100 primary schools and 14 secondary schools. Health departments over sees 8 health units which are distributed in different parts of the Diocese. The population is 320,000 people according to 2014 population census.

The Diocese of North Ankole is re-known for livestock production particularly cattle grazing. The majority of the population are engaged in cattle production, goats and sheep rearing. Therefore access to veterinary services is paramount to enhancing livestock production within the Diocese. This is so because of both culture and climatic reasons knowing that over 80% of the Diocese lies within the Ankole-Masaka Dry corridor. The Diocese also hosts 2 major government Ranches (Nshaara and Ruhengyere) and one National Game Park (Lake Mburo National Park).
However, the trend has now changed and crop growing has been embraced with major crops being bananas, coffee, maize and beans. Nearly every homestead now has a banana garden primarily for food security and some significant number is now growing bananas commercially.

North Ankole is an Anglican Diocese under the Church of Uganda. It was founded in 2003. It has five departments which include: Department of Health, Department of Education, Department of Mission, Department of Finance and Department of Planning and Development. It is a pastoralist diocese mainly, lying along the cattle corridor with livestock as its major economic activity. It has a total population of 328,077 (Census 2014) with a population growth rate of 3.5 % higher than the national growth rate of 3.64% far above the National at 3.0% (Census 2014). The high population growth is a challenge to service delivery as it significantly places great demand on the delivery of social services hence makes forward planning critical.

The Diocese of North Ankole is located on Rushere hill, Kiruhura District, Western Uganda. The Diocese shares the same geographical boundaries with Kiruhura and Kazo Districts respectively.

The Diocese has so far been shepherded by 2 Bishops; The founding Bishop was Rt. Rev. John Muhanguzi, and the current Bishop is, Rt.Rev. Stephen Namanya.

The Diocese has 16 Archdeaconries, 72 Parishes, 12 Senior Secondary Schools, 118 Primary Schools, 1 Pre-Primary and 8 health centres.
